Colossians 3:12-14:
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Forgiveness doesn’t always come easily. We carry trauma through our lives. It is actually held within our bodies. Because God gave each of us the power of free will, people make mistakes. People take things too far. People lie, people hurt, and people can be selfish, angry, aggressive. The list goes on. I know I have. I have done things I am not proud of, we all have.
And because we ALL sin, we all make mistakes, we all slip up from time to time, or frequently, we have to share forgiveness freely. None of us deserve forgiveness, but God gives it freely.
His son nailed to the cross proves it. God forgives freely.
As Christian’s we are called to be disciplined. We are called to control our tongue, we are called to dwell in patience, to share love with everyone and to be forgiving.
You may never get the apology you feel is needed.
You may never get to undo damage that has been done.
You may never be the same.
But you can give forgiveness for the sake of YOU.
Forgiving someone who has wronged you can set you free. Free from anger, free from rage, free from stress, free from comparison. Free from jealousy, free from the “what ifs”.
Our God is just. He can settle the debt you are struggling with.
Sometimes that debt or anger, or pain is greater than ourselves.
We can not let our emotions rule us. Our emotions change at the drop of a pen. And although people can hurt us, we can be set apart as Christian’s by giving the gift of forgiveness freely, as Christ does for us.
I pray this message helps give you strength, wisdom and peace. I pray you are able to let go of the pain harbored with anger. I pray you can move forward and keep your eyes turned to things above, and not entertain the things below. You are cherished, you are loved, you are seen. 🩷
Love,
Kelso
